The 9th Meeting of China-Vietnam Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee Held in Beijing

On October 20, 2015, Vice Minister of Commerce Gao Yan and the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam Nguyen Cam Tu co-chaired the 9th meeting of China-Vietnam Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee. The two parties reviewed the development situation of bilateral economic and trade cooperation since the last meeting, and exchanged views on the related issues on further developing bilateral reciprocal economic and trade cooperation.

Gao said that, at present, China-Vietnam Economic and Trade cooperation was further deepened, with the contents enriched and the level promoted. In 2014, China-Vietnam bilateral trade reached US$ 83.6 billion, up 28%. China has been the largest trade partner of Vietnam for 11 consecutive years, and Vietnam became the second largest trade partner of China in ASEAN. Chinese Ministry of Commerce is willing to make joint efforts with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, to promote the balanced, steady and sustainable development of the bilateral trade, and to realize the goal that the bilateral trade would reach US$ 100 billion in 2017. The bilateral investment cooperation was deepened continuously, with the accumulated agreement investment of Chinese enterprises to Vietnam reaching US$ 8 billion. The Ministry of Commerce will further strengthen the connectivity and cooperation in infrastructure, deepen the border and local economic and trade cooperation, encourage and support the Chinese enterprises to invest and start business in Vietnam, and strengthen the coordination in the multilateral and regional economic affairs. The goal is to promote China-Vietnam economic and trade relation to reach a new level.

Nguyen Cam Tu said that, the economic and trade cooperation has always played a leading role in Vietnam-China relations, and has gained fruitful achievements. Vietnam was satisfied with the progress of the bilateral economic and trade cooperation since the 8th meeting of China-Vietnam Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee. He hope that Vietnam, together with China, will optimize the related bilateral economic and trade agreements, expand the trade of agricultural products, strengthen the trade promotion activities, and deepen the cooperation in quality testing and customs. Vietnam welcomes more Chinese enterprises to come and invest. He believed that, under the joint efforts of the two parties, China and Vietnam could open a wider cooperation space, and promote the development of bilateral economic and trade relation.

After the meeting, Gao Yan and Nguyen Cam Tu signed the minutes of the 9th meeting of China-Vietnam Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee.
