EU Commission Announced That It Would Refer Cyprus to The EJC

The European Union (EU) Commission announced that it would refer Cyprus to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) for non-compliance with the Landfill Directive.

Six landfills accepting wastes from tLimassol and Nicosia are allegedly violating EU regulations, and the Cypriot government does not expect to achieve full compliance with EU standards before 2015.

EU would also warn Lithuania and Malta for inadequate adoption of the Packaging Directive into national law.

The national packaging legislation in Malta, is not thought to be in line with the EU Packaging Directive, while Lithuania is also in a similar state.
