The Labelexpo Americas Trade Show Ran From 9-11 September in Illinois

The Labelexpo Americas trade show ran from 9-11 September in Illinois. And rather than show off just what it can do, EFI held a competition in which EFI Jetrion inkjet narrow web press users showed off what they can do.

The competition was inaugurated this year to applaud the highest-quality and most innovative print uses for EFI Jetrion presses, which is the leading narrow-web inkjet technology in the global label converting industry, according to EFI.

You can see the benefit to EFI, yes?

The winners were announced at a special reception on 10 September, after which everyone was encouraged to visit the EFI exhibit to explore EFI’s optimised ERP and one-pass LED inkjet label print, varnish and cut workflow, which was on show for the first time.

The new workflow is the first fully in-line LED inkjet digital printing system with flexo varnish, lamination, in-line laser cutting and slitting for lean label production. The production line features the 13-inch wide EFI Jetrion® 4950LX LED narrow web press now available with a new white ink module.

So who produced the best labels on Jetrion?

Ample Industries (US) won the 2014 Label of the Year award for a beverage label printed with process colours plus white ink on silver material. An honourable mention went to Canada’s Factor Forms & Labels.

GSI Technologies (US) won the 2014 Most Innovative Application of the Year award for a heat-resistant blanket warming oven decal printed CMYK plus white on film with laser cut outs. Ohio label converter, Repacorp, won the honorable mention.

“We have seen such outstanding and innovative work from our Jetrion customers that we decided a contest to recognise them in two categories was in order,” said Stephen Emery, vice president of EFI's Jetrion and ink businesses. “The contest participants certainly did not disappoint, and it was hard to come to a final decision. We look forward to making this an annual event.”
