AGC has been named a Thomson Reuters 2013 Top 100 Global Innovator. This program identifies and honors corporations and institutions that are at the heart of innovation as measured by a series of proprietary patent-related metrics: overall patent volume, patent grant success rate, global reach of the portfolio and patent influence as evidence by citations, according to the announcement.
"AGC has been operating globally including Japan, Asia, Europe, North America and also new markets like Brazil where we started commercial production this year. In each of the business areas we are engaged in, we are always committed to technology development that serves the needs of local communities," says Yoshiaki Tamura, general manager of technology general division and executive vice president of AGC. "AGC's intellectual property (IP) management, which focuses on the global utilization of IP rights, underpins the Group's technological strength, and it is a great honor that our efforts have earned this prestigious recognition from Thomson Reuters."
