The 2013 Bentley Flying Spur has been previewed in a teaser video ahead of the all-new ultra-luxury sedan’s debut at next month’s 2013 Geneva motor show.
Arriving more than seven years after the launch of the original Bentley Flying Spur, the new four-door expands the second-generation Continental range beyond the already available V8 and W12 coupes, the GTC convertible, and the high-performance Speed variants in both soft- and hardtop body styles.
Like its two-door siblings, the new Bentley Flying Spur features evolutionary styling enhancements, which, while refreshing, retain the character and basic design of the first-gen model.
A new crease above the headlights looks set to create a more assertive front end, while the cabin features a redesigned dashboard and instrument cluster, new switchgear and technology features, and updated materials that contribute to a heightened sense of luxury.
The biggest change to the Flying Spur is expected to be the introduction of Bentley’s new 373kW/660Nm twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 to the line-up.
The new V8 will sit beneath the larger 423kW/700Nm twin-turbo 6.0-litre W12, while the anticipated performance flagship, the Flying Spur Speed, is likely to adopt the uprated 460kW/800Nm tune.
All variants will upgrade from six- to eight-speed automatic transmissions and retain their all-wheel-drive configuration.
The outgoing Bentley Flying Spur is priced from $374,666 in Australia, making it less than $5000 more expensive than the new Continental GT and a whopping $290,000 cheaper than Bentley’s other four-door, the Mulsanne.
More details will be released on February 20 ahead of the Flying Spur’s Geneva debut on March 5.
