LED tape light crocheted into a carpet? A unique application for LED tape light that can be walked on, sat on and even slept on. These are not your average uses for LED tape light. In fact standard interior designs that utilize LED tape light are under counter illumination, stair lighting and even accent lighting.
This fresh and new design is all part of what the IMU design team works towards. The LED Tape Light Carpet, aka the Light Carpet was designed by Johanna Hyrkas, which is part of a Finnish design team, IMU. IMU strives to assist the emerging designer through the transition from student to professional designer.

And what a great medium to work with, LEDs. LEDs are so versatile, they have opened the door for lighting designers. LEDs are:
dimmable utilize less energy than standard bulbs (CFL, fluorescent and incandescents)
LEDs can be colored
they last for 5 – 10 times the life of the standard light bulbs
do not contain mercury like the CFL
low heat emission
All of these great assets have allowed for a new lighting design era to emerge.
