Troels Grum-Schwensen vs gravity and balance by Anca on Feb 28. 2013 Après brings News, Our famous Designers
GrumDesign studio was founded in 1989 by Troels Grum-Schwensen, an award-winning designer who specialises in furniture and interior design, architecture and exhibitions. Through the years, Grum has created some innovative furniture pieces.
The studio works with both Danish and international furniture-manufacturers, including our partner Randers+Radius. They have manufactured the incredible Grip Table. It was inspired by tightrope walkers who balance by means of a long pole – gravity challenging balance. Grip tables become more stable the more weight is added to them. Gravity plays in the locking of the construction with which the table is assembled. The Grip has won the Danish Design Award 2012.
“Furniture is an architectural item which – in a clear and simple way – has to adapt to the room and the people using it” – Troels Grum-Schwensen
We also had a look at Grum’s prototype designs, here are some photos of his latest seating ideas.
Harmonious and architectural, like flower clusters on a lake, Waterlilly can be arranged in various formations and patterns, adapting to the specific room.
Bloom is a multiflexible seating concept for waiting areas like lounges, break-out areas, receptions, hotel lobbies or restaurants and cafés. Bloom can be shaped and linked in many different shapes.
