Sherwood Press Begin by Under-Standing Their Customer's Needs

Thinking ‘Inside The Box’

The Sherwood Press Group is at the forefront of packaging innovation and their success is driven by a comprehensive design, development and manufacturing process which commences with the evaluation of a customer’s initial requirements, resulting in their product reaching shelves faster.

Save time, save cost, save resource – sell more

Sherwood Press begin by under-standing their customer’s needs, digging down into what the issues are and how they can help. This is achieved through detailed material, seven wastes and shelf life analysis, combined with a comprehensive ‘cradle to grave’ packaging audit. The findings from these studies enable the Innovation and Design Team to identify areas in which Sherwood can provide the greatest benefit to the customer, be it savings in time, cost, resource or the creation of an enhanced product that enables you to sell more.

Some recent solutions Sherwood have provided to customers include:

●Increased packing line efficiencies of up to 116% through running a new constructional design with improved creasing and erection performance;

●Speed to market – four days from brief to the final packaged product hitting the retailer’s shelf;

●New product design and develop-ment in 16 weeks, which includes Far East production of eight weeks;

●Reduced costs of 34% by mechanising a process that was traditionally hand assembled.

The Group’s in-house CAD and graphic design teams provides innovative constructional design, brand design and graphics, virtual proofing and artwork imposition.

The team also ensure that what they design works, and one of their key strengths is that all pre-production prototyping is completed in the UK, saving a considerable amount of time in a Far East workflow. The testing process includes full sample prototypes, material suitability, functionality and printability, along with transit tests and customer production testing on their own equipment.

The Group offers both UK and Far East manufacturing facilities with full in-house added value finishing services, including foiling, embossing, die-cutting and varnishing. The Group holds FSC/PEFC certification in the UK and China, and both factories have ISO 14001 Environmental Management accreditation.

Sherwood’s Nottingham factory has the BRC/IOP standard for packaging and packaging materials certification in category 1 – litho print and finishing of packaging for food products. The Group has also become the second UK printer to have achieved BPIF ISO 12647-2 certification, offering global colour control across all of its production facilities.
