Whenever huge flyovers are built across the roads, it eases one problem, but due to that another problem arises. The construction waste of the flyovers clogs the sewer lines, which results in high mosquito breeding. Due to this, alarm bells start ringing for the municipal authorities and it further gives the public works department the task to clear out the debris, so as to prevent any kind of back flow in the sewer lines across the area.
Due to this clogging problem, the residents of the area also face a lot of inconvenience and they too start complaining the matter to the concerned authorities. The same problem arises when there is some huge event coming up and a lot of construction too happens at that time. During that time also the need arises to get the construction done in such a manner, that the flow of the sewer lines gets cleared off.
When the problem of construction waste management is reported to the officials, then at that time they make their visits to inspect the area. They come and use the anti-larval spray to avoid the breeding of mosquitos. During the construction, piles of rubble get dumped at the site which becomes a cause of concern for the authorities, as well as the residents. Huge liters of insecticides are sprayed in the sewer lines, so as to stop the breeding of the mosquitos.
The officials spare no effort to check the breeding, and from time to time they check and get the issue solved. A very high quantity of mosquito breeding is checked by spraying the anti-larval biological agents in the sewer lines. It may not be dengue mosquito breeding, but who knows if it is, then the problem will become grave.
It is the duty of the Public Works Department to remove the debris, as soon as the work is over, or remove it from time to time. They have to come into action before the problem gets worse, and the residents get even more hassled. If the accumulated debris is not cleared from time to time, then it will further result in back flow of the sewer and it also further results in water logging.
The construction waste is dumped in the sewer lines and apart from that many times the width of the line is also reduced, due to huge pillars that are constructed alongside the sewer. These pillars further hinder the flow of the sewer water and the construction waste that is dumped aggravates the problem further.
The solution is that the construction waste, or any kind of industrial waste like the asbestos waste disposal, must not be done anywhere near the residential areas. The clearing off the debris becomes a huge task and leads to further problems.
