Isuzu MU-X (January)
Breaking out of the hardcore work truck mould, Isuzu’s MU-X SUV will hit Australian dealerships in earnest in January. Powered by the same 130kW/380Nm 3.0-litre turbo-diesel used in the D-Max ute, the MU-X is offered in three trim levels – LS-M and LS-U, available in two- and four-wheel drive, as well as the 4WD-only LS-T. Transmission choice is between a five-speed manual (LS-M and LS-U 4WD only) and a five-speed auto with sequential sports mode. Unlike some ‘soft-road’ SUVs, 4WD versions of the MU-X boast genuine off-highway ability, with 230mm ground clearance, front steel plate skid/splash shield, and steel plate guards to protect the sump and transfer case. Prices start at $40,500 for the LS-M 4×2 auto, ranging up to $53,500 for the top-shelf LS-T.
