As of July of 2013, more than 512 lighting manufacturers, 316 retailers/distributors and 8,524 light products represent the LEED lighting facts label. To someone in the lighting industry the lable may make sense, but to those with limited lighting knowledge LED Lumen Maintenance, Color Rendering Index (CRI) and Correlated Color Temperature (CCT) may not mean very much.
Source Lighting Facts
Over the last few years the label has evolved and manufacturers can now choose to use one of the four versions of the LED Lighting Facts label.
Current and required label metrics Current and required label metrics + Warranty Current and required label metrics + LED Lumen Maintenance Current and required label metrics + LED Lumen Maintenance + Warranty
The addition of warranty and LED Lumen Maintenance are the most recent additions, but most of them include the following characteristics. This handy list will help you become more informed before you buy.
Light Output/Lumens
Measures light output The higher the number, the more light is emitted
Watts
The lower the wattage of the light bulb, the less energy used Watt measures the energy required to light the product
Lumens per Watt/Efficacy
This measures the efficiency of the product The higher the number, the more efficient the product
Color Accuracy – Color Rendering Index (CRI)
A quantitative measure of the ability of a light source to reproduce the colors Color Rendering Index (CRI) -?Measures the color accuracy Color rendition is the lamp's light spectrum Correlated Color Temperature (CCT) -?Measures light color (3600–5500 K)?"Cool" colors have higher Kelvin temperatures (2700–3500 K)?"Warm" colors have lower Kelvin temperatures
LED Lumen Maintenance
This is listed as a percentage The metric analysis estimates the amount of light that the LED light source is projected to emit at 25,000 hours
Model Number
this is the manufacturer's model number for the product
Type
The specific type of lighting fixture
Brand
The brand of each product
Product Warranty
An estimate (shown as a percentage) of the amount of light that the LED light source product is projected to produce at 25,000 hours.
