A teaser video the Toyota i-Road concept has been released ahead of its world premiere at next week’s 2013 Geneva motor show.
The 30-second clip gives us another sneak peek at the tiny 1+1 city concept, revealing its tall and narrow stance and unique three-fixture headlight design.
The wedge-shaped i-Road concept rides on two thin wheels at the front and a single rear wheel, and features Toyota’s signature Prius family/hybrid grille design, highlighting its electric propulsion system.
Toyota describes the i-Road concept as a “compact, fun and emissions-free personal mobility concept designed to offer quick and efficient urban transport for two”.
The Toyota i-Road is similar in concept to the Renault Twizy – the French brand’s pint-sized two-seat electric car already on sale in Europe.
Other European manufacturers unveiled a handful of similar prototypes in 2011, including the Audi Urban concept, Volkswagen Nils concept, Peugeot Velv concept and the Opel RAK e concept.
More details of the Toyota i-Road concept, including the specifics of its electric propulsion system, will be revealed in Geneva on March 5, where it will be unveiled alongside the Toyota 86 convertible concept.
