The Moon lamp exhibits topographically-accurate details of the way the moon’s surface looked on March 19th, 2011’s during the Supermoon lunar episode. The Moon lamp’s model was created from accurate information retrieved from the Japanese lunar orbiter spacecraft Kaguya.

During the Supermoon, the moon appeared 14% bigger and 30% brighter and took place just one week after the Japan based tsunami. The designer Nosigner mentions that the time in which the Supermoon occurred, the bright lights of the moon shined a sense of hope for rebuilding in Japan. The Moon lamp is an incredible resemblance to what we can only squint and see or see through a telescope of the moon’s surface.
