When it comes to interior design, the motto 'less is more' certainly applies in many circumstances. Those who fancy more extravagant furnishings in their home, therefore, should consider installing less fanciful lighting.
Fittings do not need to be ostentatious and in some cases, can even be almost completely concealed. Wireless technology has made it possible to eliminate reams of cabling and numerous switches, as more up-to-date solutions even present the possibility of remote-controlled technology.
However, if wireless technology and futuristic remote-controlled lighting does not appeal, more conventional fittings can be similarly unobtrusive.
Spots can easily be installed on the underside of shelves and cabinets, which can add light to a room without drawing attention to the fittings themselves as they will be relatively well hidden. Furthermore, they can add illumination to dark corners, such as areas where shadows would be cast on the underside of fittings - invariably giving the room a brighter feel.
In terms of the primary source for a room, a few simple chrome ceiling lights should not clash with most interior design solutions - be they modern or more traditional - as they are relatively inoffensive. In addition, homeowners will have the choice between a matte or shiny finish to the chrome, giving them more choice depending on their taste.

"Many wallpaper designs now feature as both fabrics and wallcoverings, so you can ensure that you get the exact cushion cover to match your chosen print," she said.
Again, simple ceiling spotlights would be the perfect complement for a room in which the walls and upholstery have been made a prominent design feature.
