The Introduction of Screws

Screws are basically types of fasteners that are designed with externally threaded head. They are categorized by helical ridge and will always have a head that is a specially formed section on one end of the screw and allows it to be turned or driven. Screws are majorly tightened by clockwise direction and the common tools for driving screws are wrenches and screwdrivers. These are the most common fasteners used for industrial and other purposes in wide variety of tasks. If you changed your mind about construction you can easily remove them depending upon the job you are performing.

Depending upon the project requirements you can choose fasteners as in some cases bolts, staples and nails works better than the screws and on the other hand as screws are constructed from different materials and available in different sizes, they are suitable for holding things from massive industrial machinery to tiny computer components. Here we discuss some advantages and limitations of screws that can help you in making your decision wise by selecting the right one for your project.

Advantages of Screws

When it comes to strength they are very strong and resist the problem of losing once the material they connect begin to shrink or expand. They create strong bonding with the continuation of time and as they are strong enough to hold things together, you can use fewer screws for construction process and thus reduces the cost of the project. They are highly resistant to rust and prevents moisture comes in contact with its metal. This makes it more preferable for long term solution then nails and staples. Screws provide excellent mechanical advantages and makes construction project far easier for builders using hand tools. With the availability of screws in different sizes with varying thread patterns offer great chance to choose as per requirement for long term strength. These are specifically designed to use on wood, sheet metal, concrete, drywall and many other materials. As we already mentioned that if you want it to remove from your construction project you can easily do it by using the same tool you used to drive them in.

Disadvantages of Screws

As the head of the screws are usually larger than its body, it becomes difficult to hide it discretely. However this may be an advantage for some projects as you can easily found them but when it comes to decorative part, it makes it unattractive. These are not perfect for very soft woods as it may create a dent with its high pressure to being driven in. if you use it again and again, its head becomes stripped and driver can also reduce its grip to the screw. Note the stripped screws are difficult to remove and can ruin the surrounding wood while removing.
