US-based food ingredients distributor Batory Foods has been chosen as the authorised distributor by Corbion for its products which includes lactic acid, lactic acid derivatives and lactides.
The Corbion products are used for preservation, flavor enhancement, pH regulation and mineral fortification in meat and poultry, dairy, beverage, confectionery, nutritional foods, fruits and vegetables.
By selecting Batory Foods, Corbion will now focus on its core business while Batory Foods will be able to meet the customers' demands of less-than-truckload shipments.
Batory Foods senior product manager Ken Krasowski said: "This is a win for Batory, Corbion and, most important, our customers.
"Corbion benefits from the efficiencies we offer. For customers, we can quickly deliver anywhere across the US. So we're taking lead times down from two to three weeks to just a few days."
Additionally, existing customers who source from Batory will now be able to add Corbion to their orders, thus making Batory, the principal ingredients provider. The move will result in elimination of tedious paperwork and time-consuming process of coordinating with several distributors.
The development comes after Batory Foods announced start of construction on its new 678,000ft2 facility in Wilmington, Illinois. The company is also planning to launch a new line of business, providing third party logistics services to key suppliers, starting November 2016.
New Zealand-based dairy company Fonterra has chosen Batory as its new third-party logistics provider in Illinois.

Corbion specializes in lactic acid, lactic acid derivatives and lactides, emulsifiers, functional enzyme blends, minerals and vitamins. The company makes biobased products using renewable resources applicable in markets such as bakery, meat, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, home and personal care, packaging, automotive, coatings and adhesives.
