The American Institute for Packaging and the Environment (AMERIPEN) announced hat Donna Dempsey has been named Executive Director of the organization, effective June 3, 2013.
"Donna brings more than 15 years of experience to AMERIPEN, having demonstrated strong leadership, advocacy and communication skills in her prior roles within the packaging industry. AMERIPEN's Executive Committee is very much looking forward to taking this organization to the next level, accelerating toward our goals and mission, and we believe Donna will be a great asset in that endeavor," says AMERIPEN President Gail Tavill of ConAgra Foods, Inc.
Dempsey is a public affairs leader and association executive who has provided tactical and strategic leadership for non-profits organizations' programs and policies, including public and government relations. An accomplished coalition leader, she has organized collaborations to implement "reduce, reuse and recycle" programs in cities around the country. She is a powerful communicator and sought-after speaker who has appeared on nationwide radio programs and in influential industry publications. Recently she was appointed to the "Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful" Board of Directors.
"I am very excited to have the chance to work with AMERIPEN to advocate for the economic, environmental and social benefits that packaging offers across the value chain," says Dempsey. "I'm looking forward to working with member companies who are passionate about making a difference through their commitments to responsible packaging design, use and recovery. I've been fortunate to advocate on behalf of the packaging industry using fact-based information, while educating on the benefits of packaging, and I look forward to being able to continue that work."
AMERIPEN has also announced that this year's Annual Members Meeting will be held in Arlington, Virginia, June 26-28. Attendance is limited to member companies and invited technical advisors. New members may attend this meeting and fully participate in all AMERIPEN activities if they join the organization by May 24, 2013. Meeting registration and additional event related information, including hotel accommodations, are available online. The deadline to reserve rooms is May 28, and event registration will close on June 7.
AMERIPEN recently published an informative Discover the Hidden Value of Packaging brochure and made its Product Recovery Knowledge Map (PRKM) publicly available. All interested parties are invited to learn how to become part of this valuable organization representing the packaging industry.
