Opening New Brake Production Facility in US

Italy-based automotive brake systems manufacturer Brembo has expanded its operations in North America with the opening of a new facility in Homer, Michigan in the US.

The company also plans to expand in houses production of brake, disc, caliper and corner module at the new facility with a total investment of over $115m through the end of 2015.

Following the opening, the company expects North America to become the number one market for the group by the end of 2014.

Brembo chairman Alberto Bombassei said, "This expanded and modernized production facility represents a new foundation for Brembo in North America, enabling us to increase our presence in the U.S. market and offer better service to our clients."

Brembo North America president and CEO Daniel Sandberg said, "The investment in the Homer facility will allow us to expand our product offerings not only in North America, but also for customers across the globe."

Brembo had bought the Homer, Michigan plant under the acquisition of the Hayes-Lemmerz brakes discs division in 2007 and manufactures discs at the facility.

In 2013, the company had produced 10 million discs, 300,000 calipers and corner modules at the facility and expects to increase the production to 12.5 million discs, 400,000 calipers and modules in 2014.
