Bridgestone Unveiled Plans to Ramp up Production at Indian Plant

Japanese tiremaker Bridgestone has unveiled plans to ramp up production at its facility Pune, Maharashtra, India, by 2015-end, with an investment of INR26bn ($421.2m).

Bridgestone India operations managing director Tomio Fukuzumi was quoted by Reuters as saying that the investment is part of the company's efforts to more than double the capacity of the plant.

Following the expansion, the plant is expected to manufacture an approximate 10,000 tires per day for passenger-cars, by the end of 2015, compared with 4,000 at end of 2013. It will also produce about 1,000 tires per day, designed for trucks and buses, from 250 at end-2013.

Bridgestone operates a facility in Kheda, Madhya Pradesh.

Meanwhile, the company launched its new exclusive tire B-290 which is claimed to specially made for the Indian market with advanced design, wide appearance and attractive sidewall.

Fukuzumi said, "We are happy to offer B-290 to the Indian Consumers as the product has great features that allow better tyre life and fuel efficiency. With B-290 we assure the customers an excellent driving experience."

Offered in 25 sizes, the product is available at Bridgestone authorized retailers across the country.
