McDonald's Launches Happy Meal Includes Apple Slices and Go-Gurt Low Fat Strawberry Yogurt

McDonald's USA has introduced fresh, whole fruit side option in kids' meals -- Cuties California Clementines.

The kid-sized Sun Pacific Cuties will be part of McDonald's line-up of happy meal and mighty kids meal side choices from December through March next year.

Currently, the happy meal line-up includes apple slices and Go-GURT low fat Strawberry Yogurt.

McDonald's has claimed that the Fresh Cuties will provide an excellent source of vitamin C and also about one-quarter cup of fruit.

McDonald's senior vice president of menu innovation Greg Watson said: "We know our customers and parents are looking for ways to enjoy more great-tasting and fun sides in our Happy Meals, and Cuties are the perfect fit.

"As part of our commitment to help families make more nutritious choices, we'll continue to explore more fruit and low-fat dairy sides for our youngest customers."

The new development is part of McDonald's partnership with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, an organisation aimed to enhance access to fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy and to help families make informed choices.

Alliance for a Healthier Generation was founded by the American Heart Association and Clinton Foundation.

McDonald's launched apple slices and Go-GURT low fat Strawberry Yogurt in March 2012 and July 2014, respectively.
