Benz Recalls 10, 509 C-Class Compacts Due to Man-Made Causes

Mercedes-Benz is recalling 10,509 units of its C-Class compacts from model year 2015 due to issues with its steering wheel.

The company said that production workers did not install a steering component properly on selected C300 and C400 vehicles equipped with four wheel drives.

The steering wheel can lose its function in low speed.

The company said that it has it had reports of two incidents outside the US about the loss of steering, but there are no reports of injury related to the issue.

Autoworldnews quoted Mercedes-Benz spokeswoman Donna Boland citing Edmunds, "In Europe, two instances were found in which the steering coupling interlock on 2015 C-Class models was not in the correct locked position.

"We have no reason to believe that models produced here in the U.S. would be affected but, in an abundance of caution, we want to be sure."

The company has notified the issue to the dealers who will fix issue with the steering for free.
