Bosch Packaging Technology Unveils Next Generation Human Machine Interface

Bosch Packaging Technology has unveiled next generation human machine interface, HMI 4.0, at the FachPack event.

The event is being held from 27 to 29 September.

Part of the firm’s industry 4.0 applications, the new interface can be used for both stand-alone machines and entire lines. It helps in data collection, data sharing and visualization.

The new interface’s guided workflows will lead operators through each step of production processes.

HMI 4.0’s display is similar to mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets, and it allows to enter data with gestures.

During production downtime, the interface provides operators with a notification that includes information about the causes and troubleshooting support to rapidly restart their machines.

In addition, the new comment section allows users to add their own notes and share them with others.

The company will also showcase the new HMI 4.0 at the Pack Expo event, which will be held from 6 to 9 November.

Bosch said that it will install all new machines of its processing and packaging units with the HMI 4.0, as of Interpack 2017.

Bosch Packaging Technology management board member Stefan König said: “This is a revolutionary innovation. The aim is to ensure that all our machines feature the latest hardware and control technology, and also provide a consistent user guidance with the same comprehensible surface.

“Thereby, Bosch not only explores new horizons with regard to design but also sets a milestone for connected solutions in the processing and packaging industry.”
