Esquel Group Inaugurated a New Garment Factory in Luong Son Industrial

Hong Kong-based Esquel Group, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of premium cotton shirts, has inaugurated a new garment factory in Luong Son Industrial Zone of Vietnam’s northern province of Hoa Binh.

After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai urged the provincial authorities to create favourable conditions so that the new garment unit can operate effectively and produce quality goods, and thus contribute to the development of the Vietnamese clothing industry.

Esquel, which has presence in Vietnam since 2003, already has two garment manufacturing units—one in Binh Duong and the other in Dong Nai—and the new factory is the third unit which will produce high-end shirts for export.

The new apparel unit built at the cost of US$ 25 million, has a capacity to produce about 7 million shirts per annum, and will employ over 2,800 Vietnamese workers.

With the commissioning of the third garment factory, the Esquel Group’s employee strength in Vietnam is likely to touch 10,000, while its exports from Vietnam are already valued at over $200 million annually.

The garment factory in Luong Son Industrial Zone meets both LEED building standards (U.S. standard for environmentally friendly and energy saving) and LEAN production methods requirements.

Having production facilities in China, Malaysia, Vietnam, Mauritius, and Sri Lanka, Esquel manufactures for the world’s best known and highly respected brands, including Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, J.Crew, Brooks Brothers, Hugo Boss, Lacoste, Bestseller and Muji, according to the company's website.
