Japanese automobile major Toyota has introduced the 2016 Toyota Tacoma mid-size pickup vehicle, armed with two engines - 2.7-liter DOHC four-cylinder with VVT and V6 with a segment-first 3.5-liter Atkinson cycle with VVT-iW.
Toyota Division group vice-president & general manager Bill Fay said: "For more than 50 years adventure-seeking Americans have relied on Toyota trucks to take them places, on and off-road.
"The all-new homegrown Tacoma is a tough truck designed, developed and built for lifestyles of the young and young-at-heart."
The vehicle features high strength steel for enhancing rigidity and overall strength, while ultra-high strength steel was integrated into the body shell via hot stamping process that reduces weight.
The 2.7-liter DOHC four-cylinder with VVT-i is capable of generating 159 horsepower and 180lbft of torque at the rate of 4000 rpm, while the V6 is armed with Toyota's D-4S technology, featuring both direct and port fuel injection. The V6 can produce 278 horsepower, showing a rise 42 HP over the previous V6.
Both engines will be integrated to a six-speed automatic transmission with electronic shift delivering quick and easy shifting. When armed with V6 Tow Package, the Tacoma can tow up to 6,800lbs.
The new avatar has a redesigned front bumper sit slim, high-tech headlights showing projection beam lamps with available LED Daytime Running Lights.
Interior storage is stated to put to maximum in Access Cab models with fold-up rear seats and under-seat storage, while Double Cab models have 60/40 split rear seats with adjustable headrests and under-seat storage.
Tacoma will be available in eight exterior colors with Quicksand, Inferno, and Blazing Blue Pearl as newer ones. Super White, Silver Metallic, Magnetic Gray, Black, and Barcelona Red are some of the additional colors.
