Dole, Disney Partner to Launch Co-Branded Fresh Produce in US

Dole Food Company and Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media (DCPI) have formed a partnership to launch co-branded fresh produce featuring iconic Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel characters.

Beginning this fall, the co-branded items will be available at grocery and retail stores across the US.

DCPI global licensing executive vice president Josh Silverman said: “As an industry leader in licensed food, we are excited to pair our unrivaled portfolio of brands, characters and stories with Dole’s fresh fruits and vegetables to support parents as they encourage their kids to make healthier food choices.”

The two brands plan to launch a host of health and nutrition education programs themed around other Disney, Star Wars and Marvel films and characters in 2017.

The programs include consumer promotions, digital integrations, in-store activities, and themed recipes featuring DOLE products.

Dole director of communications Bil Goldfield said: “As one of the world’s foremost nutrition leaders, Dole is excited to partner with Disney to take both companies’ commitment to health and wellness to the next level.

“Together, we can do even more to deliver fun, educational and nutritional information around the power of produce to individuals and families across North America.”

DCPI, a business segment of The Walt Disney Company, is focused on bringing the company’s stories and characters to life through innovative and engaging physical products and digital experiences across more than 100 categories, from toys and t-shirts, to apps, books and console games.

In November 2013, Dole, a US-based global fruit and vegetable producer, became a privately-owned company after it was acquired by its chairman and CEO David H. Murdock in a deal valuing the firm at over $1.6bn, including debt.
