VIFT Will Meet The Needs of Companies

Vogue Institute of Fashion Technology (VIFT) decided to adopt Lectra’s design, pattern-making, and marker-marking solutions to give students an end-to-end understanding of the apparel industry. This gives students the confidence that they will meet the needs of companies once they graduate. “We had some students who had trouble finding a position, but after completing a four month course in Lectra CAD, they all found placements,” says faculty member Smitha D. Rao.

Students at Vogue Institute Stay Competitive with Lectra

Staying relevant is a priority at Vogue Institute of Fashion Technology, where a “smart campus” groups design, textile, pattern making, and sewing labs together. The university has always used Lectra exclusively and today has 300 CAD licenses, including the full range of Kaledo—Style, Print, Weave, and Knit.

With the inception of Lectra’s Education Program two years ago, Vogue Institute of Fashion Technology is now better positioned to stay at the forefront of technology developments.

“Lectra’s Education Program gives us the opportunity to have faculty and students trained on the latest versions of the software. Now we’re always sure to be in line with industry standard practices,” says Principal Devaraj. They intend to strengthen this focus on industry by using the smart campus as a demo center for apparel companies situated in and around the Apparel Park.

Lectra’s worldwide presence was another key factor in the decision to adopt the technology. “Lectra is used all over the world, so the options for our graduates are rich,” says Principal Devaraj. Lectra’s positive history with Vogue Institute of Fashion Technology is the foundation they intend to build the future on.

“We have been associated with Lectra for the past 12 years,” says Mr. M.M Kariappa, Chairman of Vogue Institute of Fashion Technology. “The people from Lectra have been very co-operative, always available when we need them.”
