A2 Is Set to Tap Into The Lucrative International Demand

New Zealand-based milk company A2 is set to introduce its a2 Platinum infant formula, in a move to tap into the lucrative international demand for New Zealand made infant formula.

The launch is a part of the company's strategy announced in October 2012.

A2 stated that the a2 Platinum infant formula is being packaged by New Milk in Auckland with the first shipment to China scheduled for next month followed by distribution to supermarkets in Australasia soon.

A2 Corporation Managing Director Geoffrey Babidge said that a2 brand products, based on the unique portfolio of intellectual property the company holds, are responding directly to the increasing global focus on digestive health, allergies and intolerances.

"The security of the supply chain in China will be overseen by China State Farms Holding Company Shanghai ("CSF"), our distributor of a2 Platinum infant formula in Greater China," Babidge added.

The planned launch in China will initially include Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Tianjin and Chongqing prior to expanding to further major cities including Hong Kong and Macau. The marketing of a2 Platinum infant formula in China is being overseen by a joint committee of A2 and China State Farms (CSF) chaired by the A2 chief executive officer.

a2 Platinum infant formula adds to the existing range of a2 fresh milk products with a focus on health and well-being in Australia, New Zealand and the UK.

CSF is a wholly owned subsidiary of China National Agriculture Development, the Chinese state-owned enterprise that operates in the production of agriculture, animal husbandry and fisheries.
