Automobili Lamborghini has launched its third luxury SUV, set for hitting the market in 2018.

Automobili Lamborghini to Introduce New SUV in 2018

The new Lamborghini SUV will be produced at the company's Sant'Ag ata Bolognese unit, in line with the company's policy to make in Italy.

The factory will be expanded from 80,000m2 to 150,000m2, and will house a new production line, warehousing and expanded R&D department.

Production of the new SUV has prompted Lamborghini to recruit 500 staff while new opportunities will be created for suppliers across Italy.

Automobili Lamborghini president and CEO Stephan Winkelmann said: The introduction of a third model line endorses the stable and sustainable growth of the company and signifies for us the beginning of a new era." The company plans to invest millions of Euros over the vehicle's lifecycle.

While the new SUV will be made available in three major sales regions, EMEA, the Americas and Asia Pacific, the company will focus on the US, China, the Middle East, UK, Germany and Russia as its target markets.

The annual volumes, expected to be around 3,000 vehicles, would double the company's current sales performance.

The new Lamborghini concept has been supported by Volkswagen Group with Audi as Lamborghini shareholder, the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, Invitalia (Italian national agency for inward investments and economic development), and Emilia Romagna Region.

Audi board of management chairman Rupert Stadler said: "Lamborghini, Italdesign Giugiaro and Ducati have developed very successfully under Audi parentage, and kept their Italian identity."
