Log Insight is owned by data mining technology provider Pattern Insight, which is headquartered in Mountain View, California. It is an analytics and log management platform that analyses big data in real-time.

In a statement, Pattern Insight said that it had come to an agreement with VMware to sell its Log Insight product, together with its team and technology.

Spiros Xanthos, CEO and co-founder of Pattern Insight, was positive about the acquisition and explained that VMware was a good fit for the product.

"We anticipate that the potential of the Log Insight technology will be maximised through this acquisition. VMware is ideally positioned in the middle of two of the most important shifts in IT in  recent years – virtualisation and cloud computing. It therefore provides the perfect home for Log Insight and the team to continue innovating," he said in a blog post.
