BMC Has Initiated a Recall of Its Beef

UK-based Burger Manufacturing Company (BMC) has initiated a recall of its beef burgers after testing showed that the three samples contained at least 1% horse meat, according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

The tests were carried out by Powys County Council in Mid Wales, upon request by the FSA.

Further tests are being conducted to determine the exact level of horsemeat in these products contain and to test for the presence of the veterinary medicine phenylbutazone, or bute.

BMC is also contacting its customers to inform them about these test results and to withdraw any of the affected products and to withdraw any of the affected products that they may have.
