Britannia Food Ingredients Selected Specialist Electrochemical Analytical Technology

UK-based Britannia Food Ingredients has selected specialist electrochemical sensor manufacturer Analytical Technology to provide its Q45P AutoClean pH monitors and D15-76 monitor with an Air Blast AutoClean system in order to ensure safe wastewater disposal.

The move will enable Britannia Food Ingredients to meet the regulations and assure that trade effluent entering the sewerage system is pre-monitored and ensured it does not contain any harmful chemical levels.

Analytical Technology's D15-76 monitor with an Air Blast AutoClean system has been used to indicate water quality and the presence of suspended solids in the waste water stream. It helped Britannia Food Ingredients to achieve turbidity measurements down to 0.001 Nephlometric turbidity units (NTU) and as high as 4000 NTU, thus eliminating the need for separate high and low ranges.

The company's trade effluent is handled by Yorkshire Water, which is responsible to issue trade effluent consents including the rate and maximum volume of the discharge, the temperature of the discharge and where the discharge may be made.

Britannia Food Ingredients operations manager Richard Stockdale said that both the monitors have enabled the company to meet the trade effluent consent criteria outlined by Yorkshire Water and also provided reliability that its effluent will not have a negative impact on the environment or the sewerage system.

Britannia Foods Ingredients, founded in 1966, produces a range of specialty fats for the chocolate, confectionery, biscuit and snack food industries.
