TCL Packaging Buys New Machine to Increase Packaging Films Production in UK

UK based printed packaging films producer TCL Packaging has purchased new automatic core cutting machine from Universal Converting Equipment in order to increase reel core production capacity in Suffolk.

The new machine is planned to be installed and commissioned before the end of 2016 at the company’s production facility in Telford.

The unit is expected to increase printed packaging films production to meet increased demand for the produce sector which has been strong in 2016, the company said.

TCL Packaging managing director Mike Golding said: “An additional, faster, automatic core cutter is now essential for TCL. It will enable us to align this process with overall production and keep pace with growing demand.

“Volumes of packaging films continue to be higher than expected for the time of year and we’ve had our busiest ever August.

“Enquiries from buyers anxious to re-shore packaging material from the Eurozone is also adding to overall demand.”

The new unit will provide TCL with rapid size change and built-in waste minimization features with minimal labor involvement.

Over the last two years, TCL made investment in new equipment for the Telford production facility. The purchases include a third Uteco flexographic printing press and a second Rofin Baasel scribing unit.

TCL also installed a second laminator, the solvent-free, Laminastar 4 and a fifth slitter-rewinder, in France.
