Begin Trials for New Paint Technology

Japanese automaker Nissan Motor has commenced testing of a new super-hydrophobic and oleophobic paint technology, the Ultra-Ever Dry, which would enable the car to automatically clean itself.

The new paint technology, which is said to repel mud, water and oils, will be applied to Nissan Note models in European market.

Nissan will engage its Technical Centre Europe to test effectiveness of the paint's super-hydrophobic feature in real real-world application and across various conditions.

Nissan Note chief marketing manager Geraldine Ingham said the car has been engineered to take the stress out of customer driving.

"We are committed to addressing everyday problems our customers face and will always consider testing exciting, cutting edge technology like this incredible coating application," Ingham added.

Ultra-Ever Dry created a protective layer of air between the paint and environment that stops standing water and road spray from creating dirty marks on the car's surface.

According to Nissan, it is the first carmaker to apply such technology on automotive bodywork.
