Nestlé Establishes Two Wind Turbines at Bottling Plant in Cabazon, California, Us

Nestlé has collaborated with Foundation Windpower to install two wind turbines at its Nestlé Waters North America (NWNA) bottling plant in Cabazon, California, US, in a bid to reduce its environmental footprint.

According to NWNA, the 1.6Mw GE wind will provide wind power for 30% of the facility where the company produces its Arrowhead and Nestlé Pure Life brand bottled waters.

The turbines will produce an average of 12,900,000KWh annually, and the project will also save 7,320t of CO2 emissions.

Foundation Windpower chief executive officer Matt Wilson said, "Nestlé Waters' leadership in sustainability is an important example of how corporations can make a sizable difference in managing natural resources and creating job growth in the green sector."

NWNA, which produces 98% of its single-serve PET plastic bottles on-site at company bottling facilities, saves 6.6 million gallons of fuel annually through reduced transportation requirements.

US-based Foundation Windpower develops, finances, constructs, owns and operates utility-scale distributed wind projects on-site at large energy consumers.
