Infiniti Q50: Premium Mid-Sized Sedan Leaked

Official images of the Infiniti Q50 have been accidentally published on the luxury car maker’s Canadian website just hours out from the all-new premium mid-size sedan’s debut at the 2013 Detroit auto show.

The images – captured as screen grabs by a member of Infiniti enthusiast blog MyG37 – reveal the interior and exterior styling of the Japanese car maker’s new G sedan successor, which is set to go on sale in Australia towards the end of 2013.

The images reveal a somewhat conservative design for the new Infiniti Q50, although one that is clearly influenced by the brand’s earlier Emerg-e and LE concepts.

A prominent example of Infiniti’s signature concave/convex grille dominates the front end, and is bordered by flowing horizontal headlights. The standard model features a simple bumper and lower intake design with foglights and LED daytime running lights, while the sports variant appears more aggressive thanks to its muscular and lower front fascia and crosshatched lower grille pattern.

Infiniti’s trademark C-pillar kink adds further distinction to the Q50’s heavily contoured side panels, while the rear end – with hints of the new Mazda6 – is clean and sports an elegant duckbill-style lip on the boot.

The interior shots reveal a high-tech centre console, with a large screen sitting above a classy black touch surface that replaces conventional buttons and switches. A BMW iDrive-style rotary dial sits at the base of the gear lever in a further attempt to simplify navigation of the car’s functions and controls.

A number of materials, textures and colours combine to create a unique cabin with personality and flair, which promises to stand out from the more conservative designs of its key German rivals, the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Stay tuned for more details of the Infiniti Q50 sedan following its unveiling in Detroit early on Tuesday morning.
