Toshiba Launched an NFC Controller LSI 'T6NE2XBG', Which Is Said to Improve Security

The new NFC controller LSI is scheduled to enter mass production in October 2013.

Toshiba has launched an NFC controller LSI 'T6NE2XBG', which is said to improve security for mobile payments through proximity wireless communication.

Scheduled to enter mass production in October 2013, the T6NE2XBG LSI will allow multiple concurrent connections with three different secure elements (SE), which let manufacturers to design NFC-enabled applications before finalising the SE for the transaction system.

The new controller LSI features an ARM Cortex-M0 CPU, with maximum operation frequency of 27MHz and antenna drive current of 64mA as well as power dissipation of 5μA, 5mA and 10mA in Stand-by, Card mode and R/W modes respectively.

According to Toshiba, the new product incorporates an adjustment circuit that allows recording every parameter into embedded EEPROM, which enables adjusting each operating mode and different RF modulation options.

Applications of the new NFC controller LSI include smartphones, tablet terminals, NFC readers/writers, and home appliances incorporating wireless communication functions.
