Cargill Has Introduced a New Low-Cost and Easy-to-Use Ingredient

US-based Cargill has introduced a new low-cost and easy-to-use ingredient known as IngreVita.

The new ingredient, which is a blend of oleic canola oil, fish oil and proprietary antioxidants, provides long-chain omega-3s (EPA and DHA) and essential nutrients, which play a crucial role in heart health and brain development.

Cargill Specialty Seeds and Oil marketing manager Kristine Sanschagrin said that IngreVita is perfect for manufacturers looking to include long-chain omega-3s in their food and beverage formulations.

"Consumers tell us they are looking for added nutrition in the foods they buy, and there is a growing awareness of the benefits of omega-3s," Sanschagrin added.

The EPA and DHA are essential polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are not efficiently produced in the human body.

Cargill research and development and quality assurance assistant vice president Janet Bones said, "Numerous research studies have demonstrated the important role of EPA/DHA omega-3s for heart health and brain development."
