2013 Geneva Motor Show Might Still Be Three Months Away

The 2013 Geneva motor show might still be three months away, but the electric Rinspeed Micromax concept has already put its hand up for the title of 'Quirkiest in Show'.

Headlining the Rinspeed Micromax's unique equipment list is its innovative'upright seats',which allow it to accommodate a driver and three adult passengers as well as a pram or shopping cart. The passengers are strapped into a mild squatting position–two facing forward, one facing back–in the 2.2m-tall cabin.

Aiming to create a comfortable longue-style atmosphere, the Micromax comes with a coffee maker and a fridge as well as internet connectivity to aid working while on the move or for entertainment purposes.

The Micromax can also be stripped out for use as a versatile, compact delivery van.

Rinspeed boss and Micromax creator Frank Rinderknecht said a smartphone application linked to the concept was designed to merge personal with public transport by encouraging people to share trips in urban environments.

"You need to go to work on a regular basis or want to go somewhere right now and in no time at all you find the driver that'll give you a ride,"Rinderknecht said.

"Micromax, with its unique upright seats,is the perfect thing for swift short-distance transfers."

The Swiss concept will make its international debut in Geneva on March 7,2013.
