Hideo Kojima - Don't Blame Me for Metal Gear Survive Shambles

Metal Gear Solid is an incredibly popular modern gaming franchise, which has spawned a number of classic titles.

But fans haven't responded well to the upcoming zombie-themed instalment in the Metal Gear saga – Metal Gear Survive.

The first Metal Gear title to be announced since series creator Hideo Kojima left developer Konami in 2015, Survive's announcement was met with somewhat of a backlash from confused and angry fans.

But speaking at a  at the Tokyo Games Show, Kojima has put to rest any speculation that he was involved in the creation or development of the title.

Responding to a question about Survive, he said: "it has nothing to do [with me]."

It had previously been thought Kojima may have worked on Survive while still at Konami before his less than amicable departure.

Speaking via Kotaku, the series creator also said: "Well, for me, Metal [Gear] is espionage with political fiction. Right? So, because of that, there’s no reason that zombies would show up. This is how I see it, you know?”

The first in-game footage of Survive has hit the internet after being debuted at the games show, demonstrating the open-world gameplay which shares a lot in common with Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.

Unfortunately, the video doesn't seem to have gone down well with fans, as the clip has managed to rack up more than 20,000 dislikes and only 3,147 likes at the time of writing.

The game is set to launch on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC in 2017.
