Jaguar Land Rover North America Is Recalling 40,551 Vehicles

Jaguar Land Rover North America is recalling 40,551 vehicles, including 2010-2015 LR2 and 2012-2013 version of Range Rover Evoque, over issues with the Occupant Classification System (OCS).

A component within OCS called Electronic Control Unit (ECU) may fail in certain situations, resulting in the front seat passenger air bag being totally or partially disabled.

In case of an accident, if the airbag is disabled the risk of injury for the passengers within the vehicle will increase.

The company will notify the owners and dealers of the two models and update the Restraint Control Module software to address the issue. Dealers will update the software in the vehicles for free.

The recall is expected to begin on 30 August 2014.

Jaguar said that no deaths or injuries have been reported till date related to the problem.
