Ford Launches Six New Cars in Russia

Ford CEO Mark Fields announced the company’s plans to release six new car models in the Russian market this year.

The decision comes during a time when automakers including General Motors and Renault are cutting operations in the country due to the volatile currency and political conflict.

However, previously the company raised concerns about the Russian economy and lowered its expectations for its business in Europe for the year 2015.

Reuters quoted Fields as saying to WirtschaftsWoche: "Between end-2014 and end-2015 we will bring six new models to market.

"There are no bad times for me to introduce a great new model, even if the economic conditions are difficult.

"We don't have a fixed target. We'll cut back the losses this year and want to become profitable again as quickly as possible."

Despite the announcement Fields did not reveal the details about Ford's target to reduce its losses in Europe.

Apart from Russia, the company aims to double its production capacity in China when compared to 2013, and the company expects to produce 1.4 million cars and 500,000 trucks per year in the country.
