Interserve Begins Construction of Jaguar Land Rover Engine Plant in UK

Interserve has started the first phase construction works of Jaguar Land Rover's new engine manufacturing center at South Staffordshire business park near Wolverhampton in the UK.

The automaker is investing over GBP500m in the new plant, which will manufacture four-cylinder low emission diesel and petrol engines.

Expected to be completed by 2014, the new facility will have footprint of about 100,000sqm and will house an engine testing centre along with manufacturing and assembly halls, associated gatehouses, a service yard, HGV parking, car parking and landscaped areas.

According to the company, Interserve has used building information modelling (BIM) as part of the consultation and co-ordination process with Jaguar Land Rover and is to deliver a BREEAM Excellent rated site under the contract.

The construction plan also includes the use of photovoltaics, solar collectors and grey water recycling at the facility, which is expected to begin production in 2015.
