Work under the expansion includes the construction of new fabrication building, ground beef facility and distribution center.

Upon completion of the project in spring 2016, the Hyrum plant will see increase in production levels by more than 400 head per day and improvement in plant efficiencies.

The company will also be able to expand its beef and ground beef product offerings for customers.

The expansion will create more than 120 new jobs and provide an economic opportunity for local and area producers.

JBS USA Beef president and chief operating officer Bill Rupp said: "Well-known for the Blue Ribbon Beef brand, the Hyrum facility has been a proud member of the local community for nearly 80 years and is an ideal location for expansion to service the ever-growing beef market in the western U.S.

"Today's announcement is a testament to our commitment to providing our customers with the best beef and ground beef products on the market and bolstering the long-term viability of this flagship facility."

The Hyrum beef facility currently processes nearly one-half million cattle annually.

JBS Hyrum exports close to 20% of its production to countries including Japan, Taiwan, Korea and Mexico.
