The new convertible top cars come with mid-engines with higher fuel efficiency and greater power and improved handling.

The new models are called 718 Boxster and 718 Boxster S. The engines are flat four-cylinder engines that are 2.0 liters and 2.5 liters, turbocharged. The 718 Boxster cars offer a power output of 300 hp and 350 hp and produce a torque of 280 lb-ft and 309 lb-ft, respectively.

While 718 Boxster reaches 0 - 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, 718 Boxster S reaches the same speed in just 4 seconds. These cars can reach top speeds 170mph and 177mph, respectively.

According to Porsche, these new engines produce 35 hp more than the previous Boxster model and are also 14% more fuel efficient, although the exact mileage details are not available at the moment.

Porsche offers Sport Chrono Package for engaging driving experience. It has individual programs in addition to three settings which include Normal, Sport and Sport Plus. This package sharpens the responsiveness of the engine and transmission to offer best possible acceleration.

The body of the new Boxster model has also undergone some changes. The front of the vehicle looks more muscular while the air intake grill has also been widened, which serves a dual purpose i.e. it adds a distinct look and takes in more air for the turbocharged engine.

718 Boxster is fitted with 19-inch wheels while 718 Boxster S can be fitted with 20-inch wheels optionally. The headlamps are from Bi-Xenon with integrated LED daytime running lights.

These roadsters come with improved suspension which increases handling. With improved handling, Porsche believes that Boxster will be easy to maneuver on challenging roads and tracks and in everyday traffic condition.

Apart from the standard suspension system, Porsche offers Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as an option.
