Kellogg to Set up New Facility in India

Kellogg India is planning to establish a new R&D facility at Taloja, near Mumbai, in the state of Maharashtra.

The move is in line with the company's strategy to increase its contribution to parent Kellogg's Asia-Pacific revenues from the current 10% to 20% in the next five years, The Times of India reported.

The proposed R&D facility is the Kellogg's first of its type in India which is expected to enhance the company's technical capability to make products specifically for the country.

The company also plans to establish a new cereal facility over the next four years in a bid to cater to changing breakfast needs of Indians.

Kellogg Company chairman & CEO John Bryant said: "In the last 12-18 months, we invested about $100 million in India, which gives the potential size of opportunity here."

The company recently invested $60m in a manufacturing plant in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

"In the next several years, we could have a big footprint in snack as well as cereal. We could be much bigger in India across the entire portfolio," Bryant added.
