The automaker highlighted that the new system will be able to detect drowsy and inattentive driving and it will alert the driver about the situation by giving visual and audible warning.

The visual warning includes a little amber coffee cup symbol, which will read, "Take a break" and a chime sound will ring as an audible warning sign.

The system is designed to adapt to each individual driver, and it will use steering angle sensors to monitor steering input patterns while driving, to establish a baseline.

Using a statistical analysis of steering correction errors, it will compare driving patterns to the baseline, and alert the driver in case drowsiness is detected.

Apart from detecting drowsiness the system will also address false detection, road curvatures, braking, lane changes, and poor road conditions.

As part of a comprehensive suite DAA will be available on the 2016 Maxima, and has been rolled out to the new 2015 Murano crossover.
