Mercedes-Benz Commenced Production of Its Mercedes-Benz Cla Shooting Brake

Mercedes-Benz has commenced production of its Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake at the company’s plant in Kecskemét, Hungary.

CLA Shooting Brake will be the second model to be exclusively manufactured at the three year old plant, which previously manufactures Benz CLA.

So far, €1bn of investment has been made in the Kecskemét plant, out of which €800m was invested towards the construction of the plant.

Since the plant started its operations in 2012, a total of 300,000 units have been produced from the facility, out of which 150,000 units of B-Class and CLA-Class vehicles were produced in the plant last year.

According to Mercedes, the CLA has been very successful in the US markets where the sale of the car almost doubled to 27,000 units in 2014.

The German car maker has also received a low-interest export promotion loan totaling €90m which the company plans to use of further investments in the Kecskemét plant.

Mercedes-Benz Kecskemét Plant manager Thomas Geier added: "Of course, the entire team of the plant is especially proud for the opportunity to produce the CLA and now the CLA Shooting Brake exclusively for customers around the world.

"We are aware of the responsibility that comes with it and will build on our achievements to date with consistent top performance."
