Rosselkhoznadzor Is Planning to Ban Certain Fruit and Vegetable Imports From Poland

Russian food safety agency Rosselkhoznadzor is planning to ban certain fruit and vegetable imports from Poland, as well as chicken imports from the US over food safety concerns.

The agency will also test cheese from McDonald's for certain antibiotics.

The move to ban imports from Poland forms a part of Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Service's plan to halt all or some fruit imports from the European Union which was announced on 28 July, reports Reuters.

The country has issued a ban as the Polish fruit and vegetable imports fail to meet the certification.

According to the USA Poultry & Egg Export Council, the US has exported over $309m worth broiler chickens to Russia in 2013, reports Bloomberg.

In addition, McDonald's burgers, drinks and ice-creams were also found to contain fat, protein and carbohydrate content,RiaNovosti reported.
