JLR Looks to Extract Inputs From The Sub-Conscious Realm of Human Min

British automobile maker Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) looks to extract inputs from the sub-conscious realm of human mind to develop its next-generation vehicles.

In a bid to introduce further sophistications in vehicles, the carmaker would keep a track of thoughts that humankind seldom perceive through their sentient beings.

The new technology that Jaguar Land Rover suggests would deploy sophisticated computers and sensors that will keep a record of all the minute, voluntary and involuntary actions while belting down the road, the Irish Times reported.

Such an interaction would desist from altering the vehicle's performance but contribute in designing next-generation variants.

Jaguar Land Rover connected car director Mike Bell was quoted by Automotive News as saying: "The greatest benefit the connected car gives us is data to better understand the real-world usage of the car, which in turn may lead to us engineering our cars differently.

"When someone is driving they're doing a lot of tasks subconsciously and being able to access this real data would enable us to improve the driving experience of our vehicles."

The Jaguar Land Rover's initiative for intelligent automobile systems would be an advancement over the existing technologies that make use of complicated algorithms fed to accelerometers.

In such cases, the accelerometers are rendered so sensitive that they could estimate how steering wheels, brakes and accelerators are used in tandem. As a result, the machine gets the feedback about the driver's disposition towards a given set of road conditions and terrains. In keeping with the readings, the automobile adjusts its capabilities to fit the requirements.

In short, through the technologies currently available, an automobile gets a hang of driving skills through computers placed in the gearbox and can accordingly make predictions about shifts in gear.
