Liberty Mutual Insurance Appointed Glenn Shapiro as Its New Executive Vice President

Diversified insurance conglomerate Liberty Mutual Insurance has appointed Glenn Shapiro as its new executive vice president, commercial insurance, and chief claims officer.

Replacing George Neale, Shapiro will also lead a commercial lines claims organization focusing on boosting the relationships between claims personnel, agents and broker partners. He will be based in the company's Boston home office.

Liberty Mutual Insurance executive vice president and Commercial Insurance president J. Paul Condrin said, "Under Glenn's leadership, we'll continue to leverage our national scale and strengthen our local claims service teams to best serve our agents, brokers, and policyholders."

The newly appointed chief claims officer has more than 23 years of industry experience, including leadership positions in personal, commercial, and disability claims organizations.

Previously, Shapiro served as senior vice president and manager of field operations for commercial insurance claims for Liberty Mutual Insurance.

He has also worked as senior vice president of claims for Safeco Insurance, a Liberty Mutual Insurance company.

Founded in 1912, the insurance firm had $120.1bn in consolidated assets, $101.5bn in consolidated liabilities, and $36.9bn in annual consolidated revenue, as of 31 December 2012.
